Charta Customized
Charta Software's main activity is the development of customized applications for our clients. These applications typically solve difficult mathematical problems and make strong use of visualizations to structure and understand the results.
| BIVAS | |
|---|---|
BIVAS is an abbreviation for “Binnenvaart analyse systeem” (translated from Dutch: inland shipping analysis system) and is developed to do network analysis for the Dutch inland shipping network. It is designed to support research to answer policy questions about:

| TNO / ANWB travel time predictor (reistijdvoorspeller) | |
| In close cooperation with TNO Built Environment and Geosciences, we developed a long term travel time predictor (reistijdvoorspeller) for the ANWB. This application predicts the travel time on the Dutch main roads by finding similar travel moments in the past in an historical database of travel times. Then based on these historical travel times on the same trajectory a forecast is made. The ANWB website was updated with the application in September 2007. | |
| Wikidata - WikiProteins | |
| Wikidata is a project we work on in cooperation with Knewco. The purpose is to develop a wiki-like database for all kinds of content; mainly relationally structured data. The first implementation is WikiProteins (link to concept "Adenoidectomy"). At the moment WikiProteins is a part of Knewco's Concept Web where several tools are available for life scientists to assist them in their knowledge discovery and knowledge management processes. | |
| PROTIDE | |
|
In a project for DVS ("Dienst verkeer en scheepvaart") of the Dutch Ministry of Waterways and Public Works ("Rijkswaterstaat"), Charta Software is developing a probabilistic tidal window determination model (PROTIDE). The model is developed to advise harbor authorities when it is safe for channel and tidal-bound ships to enter the harbor. It will combine geographical, meteorological and astronomical conditions to calculate a time window when the chance of touching the bottom is small enough. In the future the application PROTIDE will replace the currently used HARAP (harbor approach model). The application is currently in a prototype state. The developments can be followed via http://protide.chartasoftware.com/. |

| Supply chain simulator | |
| For TNO Built Environment and Geosciences a supply chain simulator is built. The application simulates all logistic activities in supply chains like customers orders, order processing at suppliers, inventory management and transport planning. With the simulator it is possible to investigate inventory, order and transport policies to minimize logistical costs while maintaining a given service. |
